After Bedales, I spent an enjoyable, whirlwind 3 years at Cambridge studying economics, playing sport and meeting my wife to be ........ couldn't face a serious career decision at 22, so worked in the House of Commons as a Researcher, indulging my interest in politics, before ending up in 'proper' career territory in the Civil Service 2 years later ..... mostly doing central policy/Ministerial support type roles ..... quit the Dept of Employment in 1990 to move into management (human resource) consulting, which is what I still do ........ worked in London for the Hay Group for 13 years but left in early 2003, to work as a 'freelance' ....... partly as life has been tough recently ...... my wife, Fiona died from cancer in summer 2002 and self-employment gives me more flexibility to be with and look after my 9 year old James! We live in Welwyn in North Herts. Nutt, Mutt and Pizza (Nick, Mike, Peter Hutt!) live in the South East too with families and my sister Tonie has settled in Los Angeles where she is an interior designer.
